12/11/09: Vote TYT For Best Political Site @ Mashable!

As you may know, Podcast Award voting has now officially ended. I have no idea how we did on that front but there's nothing more we can do other than wait for the 12/12/09 results and hope for the best. But it's important to keep in mind that TYT is still up for Best Political News Site through Mashable and we currently appear to be in the lead.

Keep voting for TYT every day through 12/13/09 (w/ Facebook and or Twitter)

Just voted for both...super easy! Anything to beat El Rushbo!

Is that 2 total votes or 3 total votes since technically you can vote for 'Best Political Site' twice if you use Twitter and Facebook?

It's great either way, I'm just curious.

I was just checking out the website for the other shows nominated for best political podcast.  I found out that Free Talk Live is shooting for a 5-peat in this category.  That's right they've won "best political podcast" every year The Podcast Awards have been running.

Let's take'em down!

So I just signed up for twitter, so that I could rock a triple play (commence congratulatory self back-patting), and it seems to have worked just fine.  But, alas, all might not be as it seems.  I have been voting for the best podcast award every day now with the same e-mail address, and have only received one verification e-mail from them (for today's vote).  Does this mean that my other votes were not counted, or is the one verification e-mail good for all of the votes?

You should be getting a confirmation email (that you need to open to click the verify vote link) every single time you vote, within a minute or two.

I'm using Firefox as my browser along with Gmail and I haven't had any issues.

Firefox isn't giving me any trouble yet, however gmail is spotty.

I had an email exchange with Todd Cochrane in response to my complaint that I wasn't receiving the confirmation emails for two of my email accounts. I could not use either one to vote. Eventually, in one message he wrote the following:
1/8 of 1% of all submissions have not been validated...

Yesterday we saw 253,081 Votes. Of those votes only 288 were not validated. Of 250k emails going out a day and only ending up with 288 not validated I think were doing pretty good. The pure volume is going to cause some sites to mark us as spam.

While he notes the spam problem, the number of unvalidated votes that he reports is, at least to me, completely incredible, and I don't believe it. It is a two-step voting procedure, and a success rate of 99.89% would seem to be outrageously spectacular. I could be wrong, but I won't trust the results of the Podcast Awards vote unless its been audited by a trusted third party.

I can't get this #$@%#! comment editor to format my comments right!  That damned "HTML Formatted" option doesn't often work! :(

This is the quote from that guy's emails:

The rest of that post is me.

BLOCKQUOTE is unpredictable.  It works sometimes and not others, and I used to use it all the time.

I did receive email confirmations immediately until yesterday. I voted at approx. 7:30 a.m. Friday but still haven't received a confirmation email at 1:00 a.m.

I am figuring that regardless of when the email arrives, even if it is outside of a 24-hour time frame, we will be able to confirm the vote when it does arrive.  Maybe they are backed up.

is to remind everyone to click "listener" in the relevant field underneath where you enter your name and email address.

Almost forgot to vote today ;). Oh and btw, when I click that activation link, firefox asks me to allow redirecting. So maybe that could be a source of trouble for some?

Ok.....I'm confused with this mashable voting. It says to sign in with twitter or facebook to vote. I am logged in, but I can't figure out how to vote. What am I missing here?

by LadyFriend on 12/01/2009 03:34:42 PM EST

Nevermind, hehe
