UPDATED - 11/5/09 @ 12pm: 3 Ways To Help From Home! (TYT/CNN)

Because of the short notice I know a lot of you can't make it to any of the 3 TYT/CNN Demonstrations Thursday 11/5/09 at 12pm EST(ATL/NY)/12pm PST(L.A. with Cenk and the rest of TYT)). But that doesn't mean you can't participate. Here are 3 things you can do to help TYT fight for a strong public option and accurate reporting on it:

1. Email. Send an email to feedback@cnn.com at 12 Noon Eastern/9am PST with a concise message: We want the public option! Look at the polls! Tell your audience what the American people want.

2. Tweet. Send a tweet to @cnnbrk at 12 Noon Eastern/9am PST on Thursday 11/5/09 saying:

@cnnbrk We want the public option! Look at the polls! Tell your audience what the American people want. #cnnprotest

You can also send a Tweet to Rick Sanchez at 12 Noon Pacific/3pm EST on Thursday 11/5/09 saying:

@ricksanchezcnn We want the public option! Look at the polls! Tell your audience what the American people want. #cnnprotest

3. Call. Say something like "We want the public option! Look at the polls! Tell your audience what the American people want."

CNN NY-   (212) 275-7800 (@12pm EST/9am PST)
CNN ATL- (404) 827-2600 (@12pm EST/9am PST)
CNN LA-   (323) 993-5000 (@12pm PST/3pm EST)

NOTE: If your schedule doesn't allow you to call/email/tweet exactly at 12pm EST or 12pm PST, that's fine. Just do it as close to those times as possible.

PS---Remember to be polite, respectful and brief in all of your interactions. If you have any questions (like how to use Twitter) or suggestions, please post them here. And feel free to post/send a link to this blog out.

Update: We need someone to record some footage of the events in NYC and Atlanta tomorrow. Also, we need a coordinator for ATL, i.e. someone that can organize the people that gather, speak to the press, call in to TYT to report, etc. Please email me at TYTJobs@gmail.com ASAP if interested.

but I also meant 'from work'. That should be obvious but you never know.

I'm so on this, tomorrow afternoon it's on like donkey kong!

by aarnwysock on 11/04/2009 05:13:09 PM EST

For me, it's on like Donkey Kong Jr. Math.  That way I get to take political action, and I get to review my multiplication tables.  It's win win.

Tomorrow at noon?

I was just listening to the podcast from last night and heard Cenk mention it. I guess we'll find out if CNN really is down the middle based on how they cover (or don't cover) our actions. Because you know they're going to cover the sadly misinformed/uninformed right wingers.

Because they've all been pimping the shit out of this.  Thursday at noon seems like a weird time to me, but I'll avoid making a bobo-esque joke about how us "real" people have to work during the day.  I look forward to seeing their inevitably dumbass signage.  ;)

Speaking of, the Turks that are going to the public option protests better represent us well with some witty signs.  And no spelling errors please.  Please...

how does "SINGLE PAYER" sound?  Pretty witty, don't you think?  Or maybe I'll go with "Free brain cells for all you morans"

Single Payer signs? Are you trying to get everyone dismissed as radical left wing loons?

;)

Come to think of it, I'm surprised a right wing Christian hasn't shown up with some turn of phrase related to "Single Prayer".

if not wanting 44,000 people a year to die in america due to lack of health care makes me a radical left wing loon, then I guess I'm a radical left wing loon.

what would "single prayer" consist of?

"Something about taxes!"
"I have kids!"

Those are all good ones.  Thanks, Onion.

I'm pumped.  Let's ride!

by publius on 11/04/2009 05:35:32 PM EST

I'm absolutely going to do what I can to help.

Everyone who has ever been burned or has a loved one who has been burned by the healthcare system should do the same.

Or if you're simply a decent person who wants to do the right thing.

...call or email your Representative and Senators.

Their votes count even more than CNN's...

by MedfordTim on 11/05/2009 08:12:44 AM EST

while you are ulitmately correct, the medial does play a part in how those who represent us vote.
In this day and age the only way to get the rest of the people outside of TYT to call their Congress critters is to reach them via the TV machine with the factual information, because IF IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ON TV -THEN IT DIDN'T REALLY HAPPEN.
And this is why we must hold/ make CNN  accountable for their claim to be "the most trusted name in news" and make them report the facts and ask their guests the real questions.

As far as making a TV news network "accountable" when even NPR and the PBS Newshour fail to ask critical questions and allow Conservative talking points to go unchallenged, as they have done with ever increasing frequency over the last few years...

...well. just don't expect the clouds to part and a wave of real journalism to come shining through.

Remember, in a TV Suit's eyes, it doesn't matter what you DO, it's what your slogan SAYS you do that counts.

Although I guess I'm thinking of Goodman/Moyers since I don't watch Newshour on PBS. I used to watch McLaughlin Group but Clift (and often McLaughlin himself) were the only ones I liked.

Then again Monica Crowley made for a nice background.

Thanks for putting in the legwork. Any idea yet  how many people have turned up?

by Turborama on 11/05/2009 12:11:32 PM EST

I just got back from the NYC event. About 50 to 70 people showed up.  Not bad for the middle of the work day with almost no advanced notice.

The CNN e-mail included in the e-mail blast isn't the right one.  When you get a moment, please resend with the correct e-mail!

Mine has been sent; will call my reps later today.

TYT Army!

Please quit letting republican politicians and spokespeople (lobbyists) get away with saying the public does NOT want a public option.  That is a right wing talking point and it is not true.  Polls of every stripe from left to right have all shown a definite majority ranging from 56% to 80% in favor of a public option.  There are demonstrations at your facilities in New York, Atlanta, and LA today expressing that opinion right now, so coverage of this truly grass roots event would be Breaking News.  Are you going to cover it with the same manpower and equipment as you are the astro-turf event at the Capitol paid for by the insurance lobby?
