CENK, how about starting a Progressive Party ~ movement.

The situation is r-i-p-e and you are well positioned to start the ball rolling.

Cenk? ... Have you thought about starting a dialogue with your fellow progressive bloggers and media types about getting a progressive party up and running?

Or just start up such a movement yourself and see just how fast that bandwagon fills up. I'll warrent tens of thousands are READY to donate time and money to anyone we TRUST that has the REACH and CONTACTS to make it happen.

The democrats are now PROVEN to be utterly worthless even given every advantage and a massive mandate and any bogeyman arguments about how it would advantage the republicans are now laughable. There is simply no reason left to not break away from that party and start a true progressive party.

I doubt it would take long to accumulate a war chest of several tens of millions of dollars if the leadership were actual proven savvy progressives of true integrity (you qualify) once the legal machinery of the party was set up and the word started getting out.  Hell, just a website and a way to donate to a fund for such an effort would really get the ball rolling and you already have the expertise to set up such a website and payment system.

What do you say?

Cenk, you could do one of those polls on your show and put it on youtube etc. to see what kind of interest this generates. 

I think it would be quite a fascinating project.

Not a bad idea to start a progressive party… and Cenk could easily be the instigator… but he doesn’t have to be…
If you’re really serious about this here’s what you (or Cenk if he wants to) do…

1. You start off by making a list of the truly progressive politicians that are still left in the senate and on the house side…

2. You make a website on which you write your mission statement (your course of action (see below points) incl. the list of politicians in 1… and encourage everyone who is interested in true progressive change to follow your example and do the same thing as you do (see below points) and join the membership of your site…

3. You write a post calling for action on every progressive political site you can think off… and link to your website…

4. You contact every progressive radio and TV talk show host you can think of and get confirmation from them to drum up awareness… and link to your website…

5. You contact every progressive organization you can think of and get confirmation that they would be willing to help with donation and drum up support for a truly progressive agenda…

6. You go out into the street and ask people to sign a petition to start a truly progressive party and confirm that they would be willing to donate at least $100,- should such a party be a reality…

7. And when you have all your ducks in a row (see above) then you write an email (and ask all your friends and family to do the same) to all the truly progressive politicians on your list (see above) saying this…

My name is (your name) and I’m one of the millions who voted for President Obama when I still believed he was a truly progressive candidate… he has since showed himself to be no such thing but instead you have risen to the challenge and showed you would be one I could get behind…

If you (and anyone in politics whom you could get to join you in a progressive party) would ever be interested in capitalizing on the huge support, manpower, campaign donations, votes, etc. that were afforded to President Obama during the 2008 election and break free from an increasingly ineffective Democratic Party and start a new Progressive Party you would have my full support and the full support of all the signatures in the attachment…

You’ll also have guaranteed donation of at least $100,- from each of the signatures on top of donations and political support from (list of progressive organizations you gathered in 5. and list of talk show hosts gathered in 4.)…

Hope you will seriously consider being a part of true change we can believe in and get true representation of the people in the house and the senate…

You don’t think there is national support for a true progressive agenda?
Just look at the support Obama got when he ran in 2008 on that agenda… and organizations like moveon.org etc… there is HUGE support…

So let’s say that between you and your friends and family and the members on your new website and the progressive members of every progressive political site you have written on and every progressive who hears about it through the progressive organizations whose support you have enlisted and the progressive talk show hosts etc. you get 50,000 (you don’t think that there is 50.000 among the millions who voted for Obama who would support a new Progressive Party?) to do what you have done (3 – 7)… you don’t think that after the progressive politicians get 50,000 emails of support to start a Progressive Party each with 10 or more signatures (you don’t think you and the rest of the 50,000 supporters can get 10 people to sign your petition and would be willing to donate $100,- in your neighborhood?) they would not seriously consider doing it?

It’s a guaranteed donation of 50,000 x 10 x $100,- = $50,000,000.- for starters (not counting the donations of the progressive organizations)…
It’s a guaranteed pool of 50,000 to get volunteers from for his/her political campaign…
It’s a guaranteed free national publicity from all the progressive talk show hosts (and probably the networks too since this would be a major political story)…
And with the promise of all the votes Obama got when he ran it would be a landslide to the presidency :-D

So yes I think they might go for it…

And to anyone who read this post (and Cenk)… think about it and if interested in true change you can believe in… do something about it (if I were an American citizen I would have done this a LONG time ago) :-D

... but I'm handicapped and penuriously retired on an extremely modest (well below the poverty line) pension.

Cenk however has endless ambition and drive and has created a workable foundation from which to launch just such an movement.

He could run the media operation for such a progressive party and have a seven (and eventually eight) figure budget to work with.

Hence this blog.

True Cenk is perfectly placed to do the job... but if he doesn't want the job then my point was that the progressives have other options (I discribed one in my post but that's probably not the only one)...

My point is that if something has to be done someone has to act NOW... for the first time in decades the progressive majority of the US have woken to the battlecries of Obamas 2008 campaign and their resolve is now at it's hight... but that won't last long if nothing happens... they are slowly becomming desillusioned and returning to their catatonic state because they can see that Obama never meant what he said and now they are starting to feel it was all for nothig and there is nothing they can do...

But if a true progressive leader spilt out (be it Cenk or one or more of the true progressive politicians that have reared there head following the success of Obamas progressive campaign strategy) the people would stay awake and the US political scene would witness a true non violent revolution that it haven't seen since the founding...

The new progressive party would sweep the floor with the two other parties leaving the progressive party with the majority and a democratic party in ok shape to stand in opposition and lastly a republican party in shambels with no more seats than there are independants at this point... and you will for the first time in history have true representation in your government...

But action has to be taken now... if the democratic party win again and move more to the right and/or the republican party regains more power in 2012 the progressive giant will go back to sleep and it will be a LONG time before you'll get a chance like this one again...

And like I said... Cenk if you want it this can be yours... but if he doesn't then somebody else have to take control and make it happen... and make it happen NOW... if not NO change will come in your lifetime...

But that's just my opinion :-D
