What is the solution to close elections? According to Right Wing clowns, since there are so many uninformed voters a recount is useless - so we ought to abolish them.

I'm not joking. I first heard this through a very Conservative friend, but I didn't think he was serious until I read this at National Review:

"Abolish Recounts" by Jason Richwine

"We cannot rely on candidates to voluntarily refrain from demanding recounts. The only solution is to simply bar them from happening. After the conflict finally ends, Minnesota should change its election law to prohibit recounts—the candidate leading on election night wins the election, period."

recounts are an ACORN conspiracy to steal from the taxpaying class that benefits the illegal immigrants and the black people welfare class.

they're only against recounts (4.66 / 3)
because they produce fair elections. I'm not being sarcastic. If you ask conservatives and liberals what they care about, conservatives will say loyalty to authority, and liberals will say fairness and the rule of law.

mainly they're complaining right now because of norm coleman's douchebaggery. If he had won the recount they'ld be silent until the next recount they lost.

Though we all say they never cease to amaze us, I think Medford Tim is right- no matter how crazy this is, there are some who will buy this. Taking for granted most will not buy it doesn't work anymore.

The sad revelation I am coming to is that the movie Idiocracy was actually prophesy, not just a goofy Wilson brother flick.

It also speaks to the right-wing's continuing distrust of anything that remotely approaches scientific discovery or mathematical calculation.

The fact that this country's elections are actually based on an empirical system at all is apparently a happy accident - if Republicans had their way, we'd just go by a good old-fashioned show of hands. "That's the way my grandpappy did it, and they didn't have any silly recounts!"

Their lack of any connection to reality is stunning, huh?

I understand its a joke, but a hypothetical scenario as for what would happen if the republican party had control before it existed as we know it with no basis behind it, than a made up quotation is your way of proving they have no connection to reality?

we could ask voters at the poll if they think Saddam Hussein imported yellowcake for building nuclear weapons from niger. If they say yes, they are misinformed and should be turned away.

If you said "we should kill all those welfare types voting for Democrats?" I'd say, first, that it's weird to state that as a question.  Then I'd say that it's just typical bobo.
