Chuck Norris and Glenn Beck Discuss Armed Insurrection

I know Cenk has put a ban on reporting on Glenn Beck, but I think maybe this ban should be lifted. We need to keep an eye on Beck, his kind of crazy is scary, and should be kept track of.

Glenn Beck has become the craziest righty on television, he is completely insane. It's not even funny how insane Beck has become. Last week Beck had aging (can you believe he's 69) action star Chuck Norris on his show. The two of them were extra-fried crazy. They litterally spent their time discussing insurection, secession, and the overthrow of the elected government.

Not only do Norris and Beck spend their brief on-air time together plotting some sort of vague armed insurrection, but also they dreamt up a Michele Bachmann-style investigation into Washington politics, only with more violence and led by the military instead of the media. From the transcript of the show (again, my emphases):

BECK: I would love to have General Petraeus go up to Washington and clean that hornet's nest out. I'd like him to set up a military tribunal and call them in one by one, okay, going to have a little interview with you. Find out if they're guilty or innocent of being involved in, you know, all kinds of the scandals that are going on and kick them out.

NORRIS: I want to go with General Petraeus myself and be next to him and when he finds out who's guilty and, you know, dishonest, then I will take care of it for him. Took him out. I'll choke them out, the ones that he finds dishonest, I will choke them out and stick them into a pile.

Of course we never quite hear what they're guilty of or who is guilty. I however find the idea of the military of the United States invading the country and pulling a Pakistan or Turkish style coups a little scary. That these men can go on a national network and make such bold statements is kind of scary.

You can read the transcript of the show here.

Chuck Norris described his exchange with Beck on his post-interview column on World Net Daily:

[Beck said] "If this country starts to spiral out of control... Americans won't stand for it. There will be parts of the country that will rise up." Then Glenn asked me and his listening audience, "And where's that going to come from?" He answered his own question, "Texas, it's going to come from Texas. Do you agree with that Chuck?" I replied, "Oh yeah!" Definitely.

By the way Chuck Norris has proclaimed he's going to run for the presidency of Texas. Real American there.

Mr. Chuck Norris ended his column encouraging readers to get together with other conservative "cell groups" (what is he a communist now? Formining cell groups) to watch a live telecast of Glen Beck on Friday the 13th. The telecast is supposedly to launch a movement that Beck is calling "We Surround Them."

Calling on people to watch this telecast, Chuck Norris says,
Thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation. You can host or attend a viewing party by going to Glenn's website. My wife Gena and I will be hosting one from our Texas ranch, in which we've invited many family members, friends and law enforcement to join us. It's our way of saying "We're united, we're tired of the corruption, and we're not going to take it anymore!"

Beck's "We Surround Them" Movement has nine guiding principles.

The priniciples contain the usual right-wing "government ain't the boss of me," pro-Christianity propaganda. My favorite, though, marks a turnaround for the hardcore right. After years of conservatives screaming that those who don't support the president are un-American and want our troops to die terrible deaths, Beck comes out with principle number eight:

"It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion."

Beck said this on his show when introducing the eighth principle: "My opinion or others' opinions may be anti-American. Anti-American rhetoric would be anything that's destructive to the Constitution and our country as the founders understood it unless you want to change that."

He then called his audience to action saying, "If you agree with seven of these nine, please, stand up and fight for them."

Glenn Beck is crazy and a clown, but at the same time Glenn Beck is a very scary man. We need to keep an eye on him.

There's a very good chance we'll just have a few extreme right-wing losers gather up (much like a KKK meeting) and just bitch about "that uppity nigger."  Ah, reminds me of every time I was behind closed doors with social conservatives when I lived in Texas...

If they do start seriously plotting/carrying out criminal activities, then yeah, we need a Branch-Davidian type crackdown on them, using lethal force if they resist.  But unless the GOPers who go to these meetings are total idiots, they'll realize that such a public pronounced meeting with goals that notionally include armed insurrection will be closely monitored.

Check out the comment section of the last TYT clip of Beck where he compared Obama to Jesus.

The standard defense when a right winger is insane is that he was "just joking". Now, I'm not immune to comedy and I think the Daily Show is great. I'm also aware of the fact that some people can take things too seriously.

With that said, while Beck's segment was clearly comical, I think it's a huge cop-out to suggest it was all a joke. People use this tactic all the time in real life interactions. Someone is a bitch or an asshole, and when they're called out on it the busted person claims they were "just joking".

Even if it were supposed to be a joke, you never know what a double-digits-IQ Fox News watcher makes of it! Btw, the now-usual advice: Think about what would have happened if a left-winger had said someting like that.

Right-wingers, though, have that right to be dangerously nuts. They don't have to care about the constitution either, as long as they follow seven of their other principles.

I think we have that right, To rise up and take our goverment back ,If things get bad enough.
Hey i think Obama will have to stay , If this should ever happen.  We need our leader.  But when it comes to the rest of our crap goverment they can go down the road, Or most of them crooks, Rs and Ds alike.
We don't need to kill them off just replace them, And maybe we can't wiat untill the next vote .

So hell ya it is our right to rise up and call the goverment what it is, Fucked up and not working for us but them selfs.

It is not unamerican to stand up agianst our goverment, it is pro-american when it is called for.
The goverment does not run the people , The people tell the goverment whats right, they work for us , We don't work for them

...but I would suppose that overthrowing the government would only be close to legal if the government does something wildly unconstitutional or so. Otherwise, this might apply:

Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; [...] Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

Title 18, U.S.C., § 2385

Beck and Norris certainly didn't anything illegal as they was just "joking", but they certainly don't have the right to actually do anything they were talking about.

Is scaring the shit out of me.  He sounds like one of those Montana Militia nuts.  Apparently, Texas has a bunch of them, too.

If it weren't for the reality that already crazy people listen to and act upon this rhetoric (guy who shot up Unitarian church to get rid of liberals and had books listing most dangerous liberals by a prominent conservative) then I would say, Damn.  Free speech is interesting.

But this is freaky.  Are there any kind of warnings posted before his show that "these are not necessarily the opinions of FOX News, NewsCorp, or its subsidiaries"? Because if not, and something happens, you could theoretically hold Rupert Murdoch liable for allowing such madness to air nightly.

I am a strong advocate of free speech, and I think you Liberals are really just quite whiny when it comes to Glenn Beck - But I Digress - With Obama and the libs driving down the economy, with people losing their jobs and seeing their hard earned money being STOLEN from them by an ever growing government, this sort of Militia talk is gonna get a whole lot worse and action will begin to be taken... I'm telling you, Obama is scaring the living shit out of a lot of people in the country, and you Liberals better take heed... :(

Only form militia groups against administrations NOT trying to subvert their Constitutional Rights.

Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

From CNN's Lauren Kornreich
If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.
If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country.
(CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House.

Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote. “Let there be no doubt about that.”

Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign

... aaaaand sent to the FBI.  ;(   <Make what you will of that cryptic emoticon.

Call me crazy, but if you're any indication, this "militia" won't be too formidable.  So bloated from decades of alcohol abuse and 7/11 taquitos that they can barely get their Cheeto stained fingers into their trigger guards.

The militias in the 90's were comprised of people who could never have made it in the real military, playing pretend in the woods. When a need for real soldiers and a real shooting war arose on 9/11 - these militia wanna-bees evaporated. During the past eight years, while Bush eroded Civil Rights and imprisoned citizens without charges or trials - the "freedom loving" militias stayed gone.

Now that Obama is trying everything he can to save the sinking USS America - now the wing-nuts talk again of militias?

I am sure there are some out there,  But most of it is just talk. Now I am one that wanted some won to take back our government back at least 6yrs ago.  Most of the jerks in our government are no more than crooks, Thats Rs and Dems. They seem to work for themselfs , Not the people, And it seems to take forever to get these jerks out of there.  I don't think its much better now, But i will give Obama time to turn things around and i hope he will , BUT if not then what, Just find someone else to take our $ and run.
If things don't get better,  Then we the people must take our government back, And start a new for the good of us all.
We don't need an army with guns to do that.
