republicans and democrats

democrats: free healtcare for everyone! That way everyone will have a chance in this country to live longer.

republicans: its way too costly for our tax payers

democrats: we must stop torture as it hurts our reputation.

republicans: we need to in alot of cases when the enemy doesnt talk...and it could save american lives.

democrats: But it is against the geneva convention, we need to act appropriatlye and accordindly to laws of the United Nations

liberals: the war in iraq is lies! and all about money!

conservatives: it was saddam who kicked out U.N weapons inspectors out of many areas, even when he already had SCUD missles that he fired at israel in 1991.

liberals: We need to do something about our soilders killing and raping in iraq.

conservatives: yes we do, although those are only isolated incidents conducted by certain soilders and marines.

-you decide :)

I've never seen it all laid out so simply before.  I've been such a fool.

Thanks doominator.  You've converted me, so feel free to go ahead and leave now.

you decide :)

Thank you, I have. I've decided that I'd rather die than be caught dead repeating a republican talking point like, "Well yes, rape is bad sometimes, but let's not ruin it for everybody."

I thought those were multi-facaded views with hundreds of variables and piles of information to sift through, but now I see they could all be summed up briefly in single sentences. This is so easy to understand, it almost seems like a child with a overly-simplified world view could've written it. I seem to have over-complicated things.

Thanks for sharing.

I'm all for simple messages and poignant talking points to persuade the people who don't have the time to listen to all the sophisticated theories and policies and stuff...

But I think you are not going far enough! It can be dealt with much simpler:

Healthcare:
Libs: Heal the World!
Cons: Heal the Rich!

Torture:
Libs: Don't hurt 'em!
Cons: Hose'em!

War:
Libes: Leav'em alone!
Cons: Sell'em guns and punish'em for buyin'!

And btw: considering your talking points, where the liberal points are always stronger, you strike me as a leftist tool, who doesn't know shit about the real world! Fuck off, socialist weirdo!

Even though you are trying to present an argument here for both sides it's pretty clear that you are biased towards conservative views from the way you have slanted the statements. Let me break down some of the things you said....

Dems "Free healthcare for everyone!"

Why this statement slanted,

Democrats want Universal healthcare, healthcare for everyone not free healthcare for everyone.

As for the argument that this will cost the tax payer more I'm not sure if you've looked into the way healthcare works right now but do you realise that if someone gets seriously sick they still get help in the form of going to the emergency room insured or not. And this costs the tax payer money, it actually costs more money because someone with a relatively easy to treat disease could have got help long before it developed into something more serious (and consequently more costly to treat). So really it's a win win. If I can prove to you it works out cheaper would you change your view? Or is there another reason you don't like the thought of universal healthcare?

As for torture it's about reputation yes, but it's also the fact that it doesn't work. If there's a bomb about go off in and hour in L.A and they have the terrorist who knows where it is, and they torture him. Do you really think he is going to say where it is? or do you think he's going to tell them it's in New York and watch them go the opposite way. This man is most likely willing to die for his cause why would give up useful information from being tortured?

As for Iraq you probably could justify going to war against Saddam because he was an evil man and killed thousands of people but do you know how many evil dictators there are in the world right now? And how many of those countries have been invaded? Not to mention that wasn't the justification used, WMD's and a connection to Al Queda were and those were blatant lies.

Anyway I respect that you at least put a weak opposition to the conservative points which is more than some.

well yea i was trying to present equal sides of the argument, but apparently people on this site attack me due to conservative points, i recognize liberals that liberals want an end to this war, and who doesnt by the way, but i think its more of how we end it.
