Marriage is so gay

There a LOT of gay people in America now. I mean, A LOT. Gays are becoming more and more accepted in todays society, so more and more people are coming out. It's not like theres been a boom in gay people, just a boom in people admitting it. I feel very strongly about the gays' situation, and I am undoubtedly on their side

Republicans and psycho christians (i say that being a Methodist myself) seem to think that gays shouldn't get married. To me, it's a complete mystery why they would think that. Have you ever met a gay person? They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet! I have a couple gay friends and they are nothng less than a joy to be around, even though I am not gay.

Republicans dont think they should get married not because they're mean, but because "It threatens the Sanctity of Marriage" Oh FOX, stop feeding me that bullshit. The Sancitity of marriage??? Are you crazy?? Haven't heterosexual marriages already ruined "the sanctity of marriage"?? 1/2 of all marriages end in divorce. 1/2!! Thats crazy! I would know, my parents divorced 3 years ago, and it fucking sucks! I would rather have 2 dads than 2 houses. Don't try to give me that "Sancitity of Marriage" crap. Us straight people have already done a pretty good job fucking that up.

If you say you dont want gays to get married, but you still like gays, you're full of it as well. How the hell can you tell someone you respect them, but you can't even give them the right to marry who they want? Thats dumb. Thats like saying you shouldnt marry your girlfriend because you both have blonde hair.
Besides, saying that gays shouldn't marry is extremely ignorant and close-minded. We look back to the 1970s and ask how they could have put a ban on interacial marriage. I think in 20 years, we'll ask the same thing about gay marriage. Because THAT is how dumb it is. Saying a gay shouldn't marry is like saying a black shouldn't vote.

If you say people "choose" to be gay, then you've never met a gay person. Did you know any gay people in high school? If you did, I'm sure they were the ones that always got picked on, beaten up, and had to hear "faggot" on a daily basis. Who would choose that? Who would choose to risk the love of their christian parents by saying their gay? No one chooses to be gay. Most homosexuals knew they were "different" from a very early age. Thats like saying "Oh, Jimi Hendrix choose music. He could have easily been a writer" Thats stupid. Freddie Mercury didnt choose men, he loved them. And if you dont know who Freddie Mercury is, go to your room, sit down, and think about crawling out of that rock you live under.

Gays have just as much right to marry as straight people. It's that simple.

You got it. Kudos to New England and Iowa for supporting (civil) marriage. Joe Mustich, Justice of the Peace, Connecticut. Busy officiating for couples who are coming to CT to wed from around the country. Congrats

crowd . Luckily they are an ever shrinking minority and being pushed to the fringes.

An ever shrinking minority? Have fun telling yourself that in Bible Land. You can sit in the corner and clutch that story to your chest all day long.

I'd rather live my life than worry about what other people are doing with theirs.

Hope your God is proud of you wasting the time he "gave" you.

the fundies are fighting a multi front war. they have the fight on evolution, fight on atheists (which i guess overlaps the fight on evolution), fight on homosexuals, and then there's their fight with muslim's + other religions. they've bitten off WAY MORE then they can chew, and you know what? i'm glad for it. fighting a multi front war on so many issues that they're so patently wrong about is good good good GOOD for everyone. hopefully the fundies get knocked around from all fronts and it knocks the stupid out of them.

Back in 1988 I worked at one company where a group of about 7 or 8 of my co-workers would eat lunch together in the company cafeteria. We were a mixed group of single and married, 20's-30's, mixed race and religious backgrounds.

There was one single guy named Mike who was a really nice guy, he was pretty much just out of college and a hard worker.

Every Friday we'd discuss what our plans were for the weekend, someone was going fishing with his wife, someone going away with her boyfriend... etc. Typical chit-chat stuff. Mike would be, "I dunno, gonna hang out I guess." Then on Monday we'd all talk about the fun things we did over the past weekend. Mike would say "Didn't do much, just hung out."

About 1 1/2 years later a really bizarre incident occured. Mike was trying a rational explanation about why a particular project idea by our only openly gay employee was not a good idea. The boss said to him in the meeting "You just don't like the idea because it was Fred's suggestion and you're a homophobe."
Mike jumped up and banged the table in anger "You idiot, I AM a homosexual and he's still a moron!" Then he stopped in the stunned silence "Shit, I can't beleive I just came out because of this."

What pissed me off was when we found out that he had been in a relationship with one guy for over 4 years and he never felt that he could tell us about it. No one else had any problem discussing our relationships, but Mike felt he had to hide his and lie about it. That just sucks! During this period I meet a woman, started dating her, got engaged and married and I never gave a second thought to how it would feel to have to hide every aspect of this most important relationship in my life. Wow, that is so sad.
