A Radical Prediction

In my junior year of High School, my friend Wyatt and I came up with a bunch of predictions for the year 2030, so here comes another one...

Most of the predictions were statistically based, like the idea that sunbelt cities would fade out while older cities like San Francisco, Chicago and Pittsburgh would rise again (and there is new data to back this up); or that by 2030, most immigrants to the US would be from Africa, so here's another prediction, and I'm going to go even further than Cenk on this:

By the year 2030, Tom Perriello will be (or will have been) president.

Face it, he's fairly young (only 34), a strong progressive coming out of the generally more conservative Generation X, politically shrewd, and Cenk seems to have a good feeling about him. And as Cenk's predictions lately make him seem like the Anti-Kristol, I'd be willing to give it a shot.

So what do y'all think, and what other predictions would you be willing to make?

In 100,000 years, humans will no longer have five separate toes on each foot.

...to have confidence that he'll be around to see 2030.  I have to hope my debauchery doesn't hurt me so much that I can't make it to 85.  It's a long shot, and I'm not taking any bets.

But I agree that that kind of prediction is a waste of perfectly good electrons.

My Alzheimer's is setting in.  I only have to make it to 75!

But I'm still not taking any bets.

If we are extinct in 100,000 years, does that count as having five toes or not?

What evolutionary pressure would lead to that?

Human toes have lost the prehensility that lower primates' toes have. We still use them for balance, but not in a way that necessitates have five separate ones on each foot. And since people who wear flip-flops are destined for extinction by virtue of their unfortunate footwear, only the uni-toed will survive.

So there is someone or something out there killing people with long toes? Omfalafel, I better get the boots. Oh wait, I am actually already advanced in that regard, phew! ;)

I thought so from the moment I met him. But he's the test case of conviction politics in a red and blue mottled area (like the US). We have to make sure he survives 2010...

The reactive tea party crowd is flipping out about his ACES vote. I think they think climate change is made up.
