Damn Democrats!!

I was still steaming today about Harold Ford Jr. agreeing with O'Donnell about how Obama should forget about health care. I said to my girlfriend, that I have always considered Ford a fake Democrat. Then my Republican girlfriend says "actually he's a real Democrat".

Oh, how that stung. But she's right.

Ford and most of the Democrats start negotiating from a position of weakness and then go down from there. They start out by giving the Republicans every thing they want and asking for half of what they (the Dems) want. In the end, the Republicans get 100% of what they want just for agreeing to give the Dems 25% of what the Dems want.

Ford said let's give the Republicans some tax cuts to get them to agree to give more money to the states that are hurting. What? If the Fed is giving money to the states that need help and the Republicans in the Senate or Republican governors don't want the money then fine. We do not need to give them tax cuts that don't work just so they can see the light on keeping California, New York, Florida, or Michigan out of bankruptcy.

What am I going to do with this sad sack of Democrats.

Ford is a fake Dem - and a fucking fool, besides.

Never, ever let a Republican tell you what a Democrat is - although I understand it's hard to argue the point too strenuously with someone who might give you head....

You need to dump your girlfriend.  No piece of ass is worth that kind of bullshit.  How long do you want to have to listen to her?  Quit wasting time.  The best woman you'll ever meet is waiting for you.

Second, don't confuse party affiliation with principles.  There are right-wing, corporatist Democrats just as there used to be liberal Republicans.  Party affiliation is simply a way of managing political power.  It has nothing to do with principles.  Ideology matters more to the Republican Party -- you know, the one that dragged our country into a useless war and into economic ruin -- than it does to the Democratic Party.

I was thinking about that too. I could sleep with a Republican but not seriously date one.

Politics is too large a part of my life and I spend too much time on it to be with someone who (you'd think) completely disagrees with me on core issues I think are important.
