GOP senator warns of 'minor revolution' over health care

A top Republican senator warned Tuesday that if Democrats try to overhaul health care without Republican support, "it will wreck our health care system and wreck the Democratic Party."

"The intensity on this issue across the country is like nothing I"ve seen in a long, long time," said Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, the third-ranking Republican in the Senate.

After a month of town halls back home, Alexander said it's clear to him and other Republicans that Americans are "scared to death" about the sweeping policy changes coming from Washington this year and the massive debt they are creating.

Alexander warned there would be "a minor revolution in this country" if Democrats try to "ram" a health care overhaul using a legislative tool called reconciliation, which would allow a bill to pass with 50 votes instead of 60.

Alexander also complained the White House has cut Republicans out of talks.

"Either they don't know how to operate in a bipartisan way or they don't want to operate in a bipartisan way," he said.

As to the ongoing talks among the bipartisan Gang of Six senators on the Finance Committee, Alexander said he is confident voter angst is resonating with the GOP members of the negotiations.

He also predicted the three Republican senators won't sign onto a deal unless "they think they have substantial support" for it from other Republican senators.

There is that projection again..........

He is right though.  The Democrats really don't know how to operate in a bipartisan manner properly.  If they did, they would have stopped the negotiations long ago since it was so obvious the Republicans weren't going to budge.  So I'm evaluating this quote as 50% true and 50% projection.  The Democrats clearly don't know HOW to be bipartisan without being total pussies and the Republicans are actually the ones who never wanted to "operate in a bipartisan way."  You have to show the other side that you are capable and comfortable doing it on your own before you expect them to yield any ground to you.  You have to try and make them feel lucky that they get any say in it at all.  Funny enough I actually just finished reading that abortion of an article CNN calls journalism and headed over here.

Must be the word: Demo - crazy... You would imagine that they would like the concept  ;)

To paraphrase Gov. Bush: " "If this were a [democracy], it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the [demagogue]."

They're anarchists.  They despise government.  "Government is the problem", right?  Everybody run, the bureaucrats are coming!

So, if the Republicans despise the government so much, why doesn't someone just write a bill to dissolve the system itself?  That will really put their whole idea of 'personal responsibility' into work.  And they won't have to worry about 'big government' going into their homes, because it won't exist anymore.

The conservatives, the teabaggers, the so-called patriots.  They're not Republicans, they're not Libertarians, they're anarchists.
