There's a ground..there is a ground Cenke...

Opps...There's a bomb I mean..

Seriously, everyone keeps crying about how we have congresspeople bought and sold by the lobbyists and corporation when there's like the easiest cure in the world...VOTE FOR THE LOWEST MONEY MAN!!!  But in case that's like too macro and stuff, let's just break down some new rules for the new country we want.

 1.  PAY OUR CONGRESSPEOPLE!!!  Of course they're going to go run to the big bucks once they manipulate us into voting for them.  News flash: All of our politicians have been bought at some point in time.  It's just that in this very ethically and morally weakened society, they LEAD by running to the money; trying their best to create the perpetual campaign instead of earning it.  Simple fix:  Since they funnel it back to themselves and their contributors in multiples of what their current salaries anyway, increase the congresspeople pay to 1.5 million per year house and 2.5 million senate.  That way, you widen the pool in which we'd elect our officials.  No more manipulative social workers, that feign and understand our pain cause they hear us cry to them constantly, or those that are so rich, they just need the job for prestige; something to add to their life resumes and university plaques.  Now we bring in real professionals; we now bring to the table deans of universities, sports coaches, titans of industries, think tank brokers.  Now the job actually means something.

 2.  Ban all congressmen for joining a lobby, starting a consulting firm that lobbies, or any industry for a minimum of 10 years.  Trent Lott retired when he did just because the limit to join was about to raise a couple years.  Now you actually have people who know that when they leave, they have to either write a book or make some kind of statement to have the prestige from being in congress they once had.  Their staff only has the regular limit of elected officials of 3 years, cause they shouldn't go broke, but they just can't keep having the implied payoff they have now.

Those are the changes, here's just some more fixes to shake it up now.

 1.  Again vote for the lowest money getter, whomever they are.  I'm a diehard progressive, but even I can smell the feces coming from the Dems.  I bet the sycophantic D ems would run to be the lowest cash grabber first.  Great fun for the American people to see real reforms passed.

 2. Vote reverse ticket for everything except the White House.  I used to think White House, but we got Bush so not smart to even think about that s--t.  There's a lot of bad that signing statements, stupidity and Roves can do.  Never thought we'd let it..but this is the boy band, reality TV, Call of Duty (still best game series ever) generation, so we stayed happily distracted.

Add more if you can.  Our system is not that broken, we just have to find a way to convey the fixes to the people, before they fall to the usual racism, cynicism, and apathy.  Sorry again for the long post...but I didn't get even half way where I wanted to go.

...is not irreparably broken--the problem is that (for a number of reasons) no one in power wants to change it and/or implement any of your adjustments, and (for another number of reasons) the citizenry consists of people who don't care, have been brainwashed into not understanding the situation, or are too jaded to force these changes.

BTW, the MLK clip refers to a "balm", not a bomb.

Present day progressives/liberals (I mean the people, don't even mention politicians) aren't forceful enough to change the system. They're leaving the stage to the teabaggers.

Paying people more will not lead to better candidates, just look at the banks, the CEO's make millions and they SUCK. We should pay congressmen less so that people will run not for money, but to actually help the country. (Obviously, they would also be barred from taking consulting jobs afterwards too.)
