I am pissed with Lawrence O'donnell

It shouldn't bother me by now, but it does.  Last night on Countdown was nothing but an hour long giggle fest about Massa and "snorkling".

I watch almost no TV, but Countdown is one of the few shows I make an effort to watch.  With EVERYTHING else going on in the world, Lawrence O'donnell devoted an entire hour to Massa and his sexual piccadillos.  He had a 2-segment interview with Bill Mauher.  Even Bill tried to change the subject to more serious matters but LO was having none of it.

Yesterday Kennedy made this same point about the media focusing on Massa and ignoring the debate on financial reform.  I don't think we need any more evidence that the MSM is bought and sold by big money.  Can't you just hear the word coming down to LO?  "Do an entire show on Massa and ignore all the other problems going on".

By the end of the first half hour, every time I saw LO and his simpering face and heard his tittering voice, I became more disgusted.  I went to bed angry and I woke up angry.  Hopefully this post will purge the anger.  :)

... turn the channel. There was a lovely program on little furry creatures on Discovery and my blood pressure dropped as a result.
LO'D is definitely at a 10.8 and needs to be at a 2.

Ha!  I'm going to pull a "Cenk" on you and tell you an old school parable that is only tangentially related to the subject.

I was 18 in the early 80's when MTV was new and still showed music videos.  My friends and I would often stay up late into the night watching.  We swore to each other that we would NOT turn it off until they showed at least 1 decent video.  As often as not we would finally go to bed drunk and disapointed with the all the lyrics to "kiss on my list" forever etched into our brains.

I stayed tuned to LO last night because I have some small amount of respect for the man and could NOT believe that he would actually devote the whole show to sexual innuendo about a man that was trying to do the right thing politically but had a fetish for tickling.

It's the reason I am still a liberal after all these years and not a burned out cynic.  I still believe that someday MTV will play good music videos, the MSM will devote their time to an honest discussion of relevant issues, and progressive politicians will find solutions to our problems and implement them.

In a word, I am hopelessly stubborn.

...ever the optimist.

I do the like the comparison of the media finding their ass and doing their job to waiting for MTV to play good music. Perfect.

I podcast olberman   .. I shut it off.

Although I do give them a little leeway . Masa is good ratings . Its like slowing down to look at a car wreck to a  lot of people.

Maddow was much more fun in my opinion. She had Michael Moore  on

watching a giddy LO kick a fallen man with such glee was disgusting.  ignoring the story would be irresponsible, but devoting nearly an hour to it is ridiculous. i really enjoy countdown with KO...countdown with LO not so much.

How's that workin' out for ya?

Being a news masochist, I watched all the way through, even though I decided quite awhile ago that O'Donnell is a great guest but a lousy host.

What pissed me off was the Gay Navy shit. I did two WestPac cruises and neither one was reminiscient of a lost Love Boat episode. Stupid, unproductive, insulting (to both gays and straights), and (as noted by a previous poster) a complete waste of Maher - whom I have rarely seen so uncomfortable during an interview.

I forget...did he even mention the debate about ending the Afghanistan troop presence going on in the House? That ACORN had it's funding restored by a judge? How US forces kept Afghanis off the streets of Marjah for Gates' stroll to show the world how "safe" it is? Nothing about Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's statement that Iran's missles pose no threat to Europe? The release of FBI files outlining AIPAC's involvement in spying on the U.S?

Yeah, NONE of that is nearly as important as the correct innuendo for "snorkeling."

Lawrence should have done the right thing at the end of the show and repeat the same words Glenn Beck did at the end of HIS "wasted hour."

He didn't mention any of that relevant stuff you mentioned.

The Massa stuff was mildly funny, but not worth all the energy the MSM put into the story.

That incident last night is the very reason I put money into THIS show.  Even though I don't always agree with Cenk, and find it amusing that he is a "Johnny come lately" to progressivism - he talks about important issues and sees through the BS.

Funding TYT is the best thing I can do to advance my point of view.

I used to podcast and watch Countdown all the time but after Olberman freaked out and did his rant about Scott brown i stopped watching. Rachel Maddow is the only decent mainstream show you should be watching, everything else is a waste of time.

So...my solution to your problem is watch the daily show and Colbert Report. There shows are only 30min each and of course they are brillantly funny. So with the little tv you do watch, instead of wasting your hour on countdown, use that hour and watch the daily show and colbert report, you won't regret it.

I also have to say, how classic was Glenn Beck's line about apologizng and wasting an hour of the american people. Beck should take stewart's advice and make that apology at the end of every show.
