Obama sticks it to his supporters

The Health Insurance Rate Review Authority was the major facet of the reform legislation touted by Democratic leadership and the White House as the mechanism that would control health care costs.

It's been eliminated from the reconciliation bill. There will be no cost containment.

I know that there are a lot of apologists out there for this legislation who want to try to convince us how good it really is.  I'm sure that even this won't be enough to wake up some of them.  But they shouldn't try to tell us anymore that this legislation will help our country with any of its financial problems.  We still will pay more for less health care than any other industrialized country.  We still will not cover all of our citizens.  People will continue to die simply because they don't have enough money.  And a tiny number of people will continue to confiscate even more of our national wealth.

This bill is not a beginning.  It's nothing more than a trap.

Look, wake up, Obama is nothing more than a Chicago style hustler, bull shit artists and huckster.

This bill is a huge dump of special interests, with a little bit of cream on the top to hide the shit underneath. Obama-Rahma will tell you it is this shit, or the highway,  there is nothing else.

Right..

He fucked us from DAY ONE, and this is what we got for it. He deserves everything that is coming to him in the coming elections, so does the stench from the DLC, DCCC, and the DNC.

By 2014, when the stench of this bill kicks into high gear, you should not be surprised that if fixed nothing, and insurance is still expensive as hell, but by then, they will be busy gutting Social Security, Medicare, and anything that actually works for people.

That is assuming we have not had another major financial meltdown and need to bailout banks and Goldman Sachs, with whatever is left of the wealth of the nation..

Good luck, build yourself a bunker, and enjoy what you can.

Eveningstar, it's good to see you've finally come around.

It has been increasingly painful to watch you willfully deluding yourself, and trying to convince us, for the last 6 months.

Yes, Obama sold us out.

Yes, his campaign was nothing but a cynical lie.

Yes, he is a traitor.

by RedPossum on 03/18/2010 01:00:58 PM EST

I was one of the first here to warn about Obama's treachery.  I predicted last August that there wouldn't be a public insurance option in the final bill and that there would be no genuine health care reform.  I have noted Obama's refusal to enforce the law against torture.  I've predicted that there will be no genuine banking and finance reform.

So since you've "complimented" me by noting that I've "finally" come around, let me likewise compliment you on the accuracy of your perceptions, your attention to our discussions, and the accuracy of your analysis of my positions on the issues.

Part is, it's going to get even more watered down during the next 4 years when everyone’s focused on other issues. I honestly didn't think they could water it down even more but these whores always find a way.

just keeps getting better and better...for the insurance industry.

We all are going to wake up and realize we have to move it from here. Dispite what the mainstream media says,
progressivism is going to be the driving force in American politics, not the tea baggers.  I don't give a shit what Obama or any of these assholes do from here. If they're in the way there going to get there asses kicked out of government.

In Dreamland, politicians listen to progressives.  The politicians who espouse progressive views stand up for their principles with the same vigor as people like Lieberman and Stupak (who will get his deal from Pelosi).

Unfortunately, this isn't Dreamland.  This is America, where Planned Parenthood can be bought off with forgiven loans for their employees and money to their clinics through an amendment offered by, of all people, Bernie Sanders, and the unions can be bought off with favors to their executives, despite the wishes of the rank-and-file.  "Progressives" who manage to get elected never stand up for their principles and always cave.  They are lousy politicians who are afraid of their own shadows.  They want to maintain their power no less than any other pol, and they will do anything, including betraying the principles they promised to uphold when they were campaigning, in order to maintain their lofty positions.

Progressives had a couple of good years in the thirties and another couple in the sixties.  But ever since then, we've been represented by thieving charlatans or by spineless wimps.  That is not going to change.

Well said.

It reminds me a little of that scene in "Forrest Gump" where he's running and all those people are following him, then he just up and decides he's going home, and they all just kind of look at each other and go, "Now what are we gonna do?"

It's staggering how many political-blogging-posting progressives that considered the present bill a bucket of hot piss 8 months ago are now smacking their lips as they swill it down and announcing it to be the finest cherry koolaid.

I way under-estimated the percentage of sheeple on the left.

Not much sanity left standing.

This country is toast.

Orahma = the Freddy Krueger of Progressive Dreams.

You're at a 7 with those statements, you should be at a 5.

There is a difference between achingly deciding that this lousy bill is slightly better than nothing and "announcing it as the finest cherry Kool-aid."

Most of the Left, even the ones who have come to the decision to vote for/advocate for voting for this bill don't like it and hope that it is just the first in a long series of uphill battles.  Almost no Progressive is saying "This bill is GREAT!  Where do I sign?"

I don't happen to agree with them--I would be voting "no" on this bill.  But they aren't sheeple for wrestling with it for 8 months and finally throwing up their hands and trying to make the best of it.  Overly optimistic, maybe, but not sheeple.

I've been so thoroughly ass raped by Obama that I don't have to "squeeze" when I take a shit anymore! It just plops directly from the intestine without even touching my colon! HOORAY!

by kurd55 on 03/18/2010 10:50:29 PM EST

...but I really didn't need that image floating around in my brain this late at night, even if I did laugh my ass off.
