Democracy v. Capitalism

Ever notice that whenever Glenn Beck mentions democracy it's always presented in a negative light?  It may be hard for the left to adopt a populist message especially with the corporate Dems in power, but if Glenn Beck wants to diss democracy I say we join the battle!

The President and the Congress have had been having considerable trouble gaining traction on any of their messages.  Their watered-down "nuanced" positions are hammered on a daily basis by oversimplified slogans and emotional manipulation on the other side.  I dunno about the rest of you, but I don't want to wait around for the swearing in of President Beck, we need to take this joker on ASAP.

Fighting fire with fire is not usually the best option, but in this case I feel we have no choice.  Beck, Limbaugh and company are usually pretty good at picking battles they can win.  As much as they might love to see laissez-faire economic systems become a form of socioeconomically based eugenics, that's not what they harp on.  They want to keep people thinking about the shadowy world of ACORN or terrorist plots.

Usually this armor is pretty impenetrable, but I believe I've found a weak spot.  How many times has Glenn Beck bashed democracy?  Now I know that his actual position is probably more nuanced and has to with an intellectual debate about constitutional interpretation, but  when you bash democracy the optics are bad

Democracy may not be the only idea that was floating around during the founding of our country, indeed many held the view that a small ruling elite should make all the important decisions of state.  However we've come a long way since the 1790's and I think this elitist viewpoint Beck is implicitly endorsing will turn Americans' stomachs if brought to light.

The question, then is how to bring the argument out in the open.  I await your ideas TYT!

The failure to pass real health care reform is a failure of leadership.  Obama dumped his signature legislation on the shoulders of Congress instead of taking the bull by the horns and getting out in front and hammering away at it.

That's not a failure of Democracy and I'll die with my 2nd amendment rights in hand before I let anyone take away our Democracy such as it is.

If a program is really great, then you got to sell it to the people.

For this watered down bill to sell health care. He is doing the same for all other bills.

Leaders get out in front and set the agenda.  Perversely that makes Glenn Beck more of a leader than Obama.  That's a sad day for America.  I guess we should have backed Hillary, at least we would have known what we were getting without all the false promises.  Buyer's remorse.

Don't waste your vote, vote Green or Independent in the next election.

Michael Moore expressed such a point in his film Capitalism: A Love Story. His point in the movie is to replace Capitalism with Democracy. What he means to say is to replace Capitalism with Socialism. Socialism is the most Democratic economic system known to man because it places power within the worker. The worker controls the means of production, thereby having a say in the way things are run. I think we ough to push the point of increasing the standard of living of the working class by providing tax relief to them, not billionares. If we take the fight to the right  by showing the American people whose side they're really on, theres no doubt that Progressives will be in office time and time again.

Against what most Americans believe that Capitalism drives innovation, when in fact it does it when it thinks it can make a profit. It allocates its resources to the innovators and innovators only when there is a pay off, the field of energy is a good example how capitalism wants to kill innovation to keep the current profitable oil system. In truth the innovators whose real drive is their craft since in most cases they are not the ones receiving the bulk or substantial profits would benefit more from a socialist worker state where things that truly would be beneficial to society would be voted on and supplied the resources to accomplish the task. However it would taking nothing short of an actual revolution for a worker state to spring in America, Unions can only do so much but I still say join Unions even though this government and capitalist society targets them never endingly.

There is no question of referring to America anymore as "a democracy". It's people have no more power of self-determination than the rest of the Western hemisphere. The same bullying, ruthless pigs who oppress the minnows of the world are in control of the American state, no matter who resides in the whitehouse. The shocking thing about the last year or so has been to see the apparatus of right-wing control spring to life and knock the impetus out of the elected Obama administration.

However, as regards the statements made above, I would like to say that I regard Michael Moore as being just as dishonest as many rightwing pundits, which is very disappointing.
