The first is that taken apart, the Health Care Bill is really popular. Those net favorabilities are huge for much of it. When packaged as a whole, it remains somewhat unpopular. That says the Democrats - from the President on down to us - are really horrible at message discipline.
The other thing is the Public Option. It has a net favorability of +22, which is really good, but it's far from the most popular element of the Health Care Reform plan. In fact, it's near the bottom on this list.

CREDO Action has a chart of all 50 Senators and where they now stand on their commitment to the Public Option please go here to see the chart and if your Senator has not committed to it you can click on their name and find their telephone number and boilerplate message of what to say. To see why Health Care Reform will pass even though the rethugs are going to extraordinary lengths to derail the legislation watch the following video where Rachel Maddow calls out Orin Hatch and several other Senators for their blatant lies and hypocricy.
It could pass (expanded Medicare p'bly, not the P.O. per se) as a stand alone bill after this (which Sherrod Brown has suggested), but it will not be part of this bill.
Very good chance the bill itself will pass though. They have the votes in the Senate, the only obstacle left is if they can get the votes in the House.
