Obama afraid of Fox News - Right wing talking point?

I posted something on Democratic Underground about why Obama shouldn't be afraid of Fox News, and I got an interesting set of responses. Some people started chiming in saying that the idea that Obama is afraid of Glenn Beck and Fox News and does what they say is just a right-wing talking point. Apparently they think it's a coincidence that everyone Fox targets is immediately fired or, in the case of ACORN, destroyed through legislation.

So what do you think? Obama being afraid of Fox News is just a right-wing talking point?

Here's what I posted on DU:

President Obama, we will support you against Fox News's outlandish attacks.

President Obama, when Fox News and Andrew Breitbart make outlandish claims against you and people working for your administration, we will not buy into their ridiculous narrative. We understand that no one working for your administration is an evil Maoist dictator-to-be who wants to kill the rich and feed them to the poor.

This is something that almost every Democrat can agree with. For the most part, we want a system that is fair and a system that works, regardless of whether Fox News thinks it's good, free-market Capitalism or bad, evil Socialism. We will never believe lies supported by doctored videos, quotes taken out of context, deliberately false logic, and blatant race-baiting, and we will actively speak out against these lies to make sure the truth is known.

We have your back on this, Mr. President, so don't go around thinking it's necessary to fire people from your administration that Fox News targets for smear campaigns. You aren't going to win them over to your side even if you hand the keys to the White House to Rupert Murdoch. They won't even ask for his birth certificate. But we will always support you if you take a stand against these attacks.

If you do not take a stand against these attacks, however, there are consequences within the Democratic party and the liberal/progressive movement in general. Some of us will always support you unconditionally, but many of us will lose faith in you if you let Fox News dictate your policy decisions. And many of us will do so very vocally, and others will simply get fed up and drop out. This is not a threat, this is a statement of fact. And it seems clear to me that the number of independents you may gain by doing what Fox News tells you to do is never going to outweigh the number of people among your base who get fed up and drop out.

Please do not bow your head to Fox News. You are creating divisions within your own party among people who want to stand united to defend you. And stand with you we will, if you stand up for yourself. You can count on us.

...should be won by one of the most dominating landslides we have ever had at TYT.  There is NO objective way to conclude that Obama is not terrified of the next FOX News cycle.

and they all voted OF COURSEEEEEEE

because obviously that is the case. I mean, don't believe us, ask Van Jones, ACORN, and Shirley Sherrod.

Those people at DU who were bashing you, thinks obama is an actual liberal. They actually think we got huge victories with health care and finreg. You should ask them the same thing we ask conservatives, what color is the sky in the world you live in?

Doesn't he work for Fox News.  In a Machiavellian way they need each other for ratings.

Don't waste your vote, vote Green or Independent in the next election.

If they didn't have Fox News and these crazy Republicans, Obama and these weak-sauce Democrats wouldn't have a chance.
