Oh, Christine...
So disappointed in the legacy surrounding Delaware Tea Party candidate Christine O'Donnell.
I always liked Christine O'Donnell. Yes, she was a nutty extremist, but she seemed to have a good sense of humor about it. I never heard her say anything mean or vile in defense of what was clearly a heart-felt devotion to Christianity. I am not a Christian, but I have worked at several churches, and she reminded me of many of the kind-hearted people I knew there. And she was attractive--I put her onto our TYT list of "most attractive Conservatives" at a time when she was a virtual unknown, 15 years after she used to promote her S.A.L.T. group on Bill Maher's show. For a play I was writing, I even stole a joke about her told (to her face) by comedian Steven Wright, in which she laughed as hard as anyone.
I figured I'd never see her again. Probably better if I hadn't. She still doesn't seem mean to me, and bless her heart for saying that "masturbation is an affront to God" (if she is a true believer, props to her being consistent, especially with an unpopular view), but she wasn't talking about "socialism" in the 90's, or gun absolutism, or any of the things that now completely define the movement. So she's no longer likeable, and no longer seems to have a sense of humor either.
And now she is a national joke (for those paying attention), which is also very sad to me. FEC citations. Tax problems. Accusing Mike Castle of a gay affair. Having staffers peer through her bushes at night looking for stalkers. Insisting (falsely) that she beat, and then tied, Joe Biden in two counties in 2008. Blaming the media. Discrimination lawsuits. Unfounded charges of vandalism of her campaign headquarters.
Oh, Christine. It is painful to see this next chapter. Good luck with your Sarah Palin endorsement.| < What is the directors name? | Your not supposed to believe in the dollar > |
