Our Point, And We Do Have One... Weekly ENewsletter
posted by AaronWysocki
Hey TYT Nation!
This has been quite the busy week at Rebel Headquarters. Not only have we launched the new TYT YouTube-only show, "The Point," and hosted another "Politically Direct" post-debate show, this time featuring Cenk, Michael, Ben, Brian and Jennifer Granholm (aka the future Mrs. Steve Oh), but there's also the little-observed (in mainstream media outlets) fact that bipartisan agreement has been reached to end the American experiment in constitutional democracy. Don't know what we're talking about? Cenk breaks down why the nation's founders are doing high RPM grave spins here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fg0EBEvoSXY

Inside Baseball
As Biggie Smalls might have put it if he were still alive (and for some reason working at TYT), "Mo' studios, mo' problems." The recent move has been fantastic in many ways, but there's also a downside. The old space may have been cramped, but everyone worked closely together, and that environment helped forge the unique TYT office camaraderie. Another issue: exploring the good, the bad and the ugly of local dining options. Next week we'll try to provide a what's hot/what's not rundown of nearby eateries. But in the meantime, there's this:
ITEM: "Get to the Point, Already!" The good news is that we have! Gotten to "The Point," that is. The new YouTube-only panel discussion show launched Thursday to much acclaim, fanfare and insightful, witty online comments. Shooting the high-concept promo (check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VflEK0TEMYY) was something of a trial, as the hour of studio time we were allotted got cut down to about 15 minutes, but we still stand by the results. Getting it done, TYT style. And the first half-hour episode is done and launched. Check it out, subscribe to the channel, favorite it, like it, tweet it, make hot dirty love to it - but whatever you do, GET TO THE POINT! http://youtu.be/o9MSi1LH1sc
ITEM: "Oh, The Humanity!" The devastation may not measure up to the aftermath of other disasters like Hurricane Katrina, the Japanese tsunami or the Chris Humphries-Kim Kardashian marriage, but check out these videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4VcF1YC0Bg and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_iknm83p4k) Dave Koller made while surveying what has become of the old TYT studios. And what the hell, since he's such a sweet, loving guy, be sure to check out his personal YouTube channel www.youtube.com/dkinla
ITEM: "I Is A College Graduate." On a lunch run, eagle-eyed Ricky Strom spotted a University of Phoenix alumni license plate frame, and snapped a photo [link here?] to send to TYT's resident for-profit colleges fan, Ana Kasparian. Essay questions: 1) If you were a University of Phoenix graduate, would you be so proud as to want to advertise it to the world? Please explain your reasoning. 2) What would you do if you came back to your parked car and found a stranger taking a photo of your license plate?
ITEM: Plugapalooza, 2011. You know how those dittoheads and other morons on the right just do whatever they're told by Fox News? Pathetic, isn't it? Well, anyway, we need you guys to: a) Vote for TYT in the Mashable Awards (http://mashable.com/follow/contests/mashable-awards-2011/category/must-follow-brand-on-social-media/); b) Do all your online shopping via the TYT Amazon Affiliate Code (http://www.amazon.com/?tag=theyoungturks-20); c) Delight everyone on your holiday shopping list with a gift that says, "I bought you something with the TYT logo on it" by checking out our too strong cafepress page here: http://www.cafepress.com/theyoungturks and d) if you haven't done so yet, sign up for membership already. Come on, people! http://www.theyoungturks.com/page/membership
ITEM: On A Personal Note... In addition to penning these weekly missives, your humble correspondent is now also helping to produce "The Point" (http://www.youtube.com/thepoint - subscribe today! ). So I was in studio on Wednesday and witnessed a day in the life at TYT. There's lots to tell, but most significantly I was struck by the incredible job Cenk does. Prepping all day and then doing the two hour online show, the one hour Current show and then he still had to tape The Point - and all without a TelePrompTer or any of the other crutches TV "talent" use to fall back on. If you've never been on TV, you may not understand how mentally taxing doing even half of that would be. And Cenk comes with his "A" game to all of it, both barrels, guns blazing. Who said that?!

Members-Only Postgame
Remember what I said above about becoming a member? Well, don't bother. Because if you're a member, then you might have to watch the postgames and find out stuff from the past week like this:
- What does Dave Koller admit to getting 100 percent wrong during his fireside chat segment?
- Why can't fans in Australia watch the Current show?
- What is the name of the proposed show featuring Steve and Dave talking shit about Cenk and Ana?
- What is Steve's one key to enjoying a successful marriage and how does it relate to TYT membership?
