Personal Profile

Michael Shure, The Young Turks Political Correspondent and Regular Guest host, graduated from the University of Virginia in 1988. Michael then went on to be Press Secretary for the Dukakis Bentsen Florida Campaign, though sadly not on to a White House Press Job. After working at WNBC-TV News in New York, Michael followed a different path to Los Angeles and a somewhat storied, but mostly curious acting career, appearing in films such as "The Thing Called Love," "House Party 3," and most notably "Showgirls" where he uttered those inimitable words, "I know where you can touch me..." Sensing that the big screen may not be his home, Michael turned his attention back to the little screen, working at CNN, and carving out a segment on the show NewsStand: CNN and Entertainment Weekly, doing on air profiles of up and coming talents. Michael began reporting for The Young Turks in the show's nascent days, from Cenk's living room, where he was happy to join his good friend Ben Mankiewicz in bringing sensibility to the airwaves. Michael can be heard disagreeing regularly with Cenk, and interviewing some of the most powerful decision makers in Washington.
